BPL: Abahani outplay Arambagh
Dhaka, February 10: Dhaka Abahani Ltd outplayed Arambagh 4-1 to register their second victory in as many matches in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Abahani took the lead in the 19th minute after Ghanaian forward Awudu Ibrahim tapped the ball in from a goal mouth melee. Awudu got the ball after the Arambagh defence failed to clear an Waly Faisal cross from the right flank (1-0).
Ujumefun Joel, the Nigerian marksman of Arambagh scored the equalizerin the 28th minute beating Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel with agentle tap after his compatriot Eleta’s shot fell in front of him (1-1).
Abahani was back in front in the 33rd minute as Nigerian forward Lucky Paul Otofe placed a Jahid cross past Arambagh goalie Bishnu from the middle of the box (2-1).
Jahid scored the third for Abahani in the 38th minute as Arambagh defender Deen Mohammed trying to clear an Waly Faisal's cross missed the line and Jahid took the control. He chipped the ball into the net over onrushing Bishnu (3-1).
Substitute forward Twum Frank scored the fourth in the 75thminute as defender Nasir overlapped through the left flank and cut the ballback to Frank who placed the ball into the net (4-1).
Abahani beat Rahmatganj while Arambagh beat Brothers Union intheir respective first matches.
