MSC Ltd beat BU 2-1
Dhaka, February 11: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd. started their Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Brothers Union at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Mohammedan’s Nigerian striker Basden Wicox scored the fastest goal of the league in the very first minute of the kick off.
Basden Wilcox put Dhaka Mohammedan ahead as the game was just 30 seconds old when he chipped the ball in the near post with the toe of his boot off an Wahed cross. Two Brothers Union defenders and goalie Uttam were standing behind Wilcox when he chipped the ball in (1-0).
However Brothers came back to the game due to a fumble of substitute Mohammedan goalie Himel in the 72nd minute. The goalie hesitated a bit to clear a head of Motiur Munna and onrushing Malek, the U-19 forward of Brothers Union dived forward to head the ball past Himel (1-1).
Mobarak, the speedy Mohammedan winger who replaced Monowar struck the crosspiece in the 81st minute but scored a superb goal in the very next minute. Running in from the midfield with a Motiur Munna cross Mobarak beat Uttam from a close range with a neat placing shot (2-1).
Mohammedan would have scored another but Wilcox missed an open net in the 87th minute.
Brothers Union lost to Arambagh 2-1 in their first match.
