Soccer Club hold Jamal
Dhaka, February 14: Soccer Club Feni held defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd to a 1-1 draw in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Sheikh Jamal pushed forward from the very beginning and came close to a strike in the 3rd minute but Abdul Baten Majumder Komol’s powerful shot off a cross of defender Raihan Ahmed was punched away by Feni Soccer goalie Masud Ahmed Uzzal.
However in the 8th minute ,Nigerian forward Kester made no mistake to put his team ahead. His country man Femi Orunimi curved a corner from the right hand flag and Kester headed home from the edge of the six yard box (1-0).
Feni Soccer survived from conceding an won goal in the 72nd minute as defender Moudud Ahmed’s back head on long throw in of Jamal defender Raihan hit the sidepost and Uzzal kicked it to safety.
But Feni Soccer scored the equalizer in the 76th minute as substitute forward midfielder Iqbal Hossain placed the ball in the far post of Jamal goalie Aminul after Nigerian forward Rowland headed an Akramuzzman Liton free kick in the middle of the box (1-1).
Sheikh Jamal has four points from three matches while Soccer Club Feni earned two points from three matches.
