Rahjmatganj stun Jamal
Dhaka, February 20: Defending champions Sheikh Jamal crashed into their second defeat losing by 1-0 margin against Rahmatganj in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Jamal earlier lost to Team BJMC by 3-1 goals beat Farashganj 2-0 and drew 1-1 with Soccer Club Feni. Rahmatganj tasted their first win four matches.
After a barren first half where both the teams played disorganized football the match sprung to life in the second half. Rahmatganj pushed forward and their Nigerian forward Lucky Divine placed the ball over the crosspiece from a goal mouth melee in the in the 60th minute.
Three minutes later Ugandan defender Michael Ddumba's lob from the left flag and the ball taking a deflection from Shayamal Ahmed Rony flew to Ugandan forward Idris Kasirye who headed the ball home from a close range (1-0).
Aminul, the Jamal goalie saved his team in the 65th minute as he dived to his right to save a long range shot of Nigerian Nche Francis and also stopped Lucky Divine’s shot on the rebounder.
Jamal tried hard in search of the equalizer but lacked the finishing touch. In the dying minutes Mishu’s header off a Femi Orunimi corner was fisted away by Rahmatganj goalie Shakil.
Jamal remained on their previous four points playing four matches while Rahmatganj took their tally to four points from the same number of matches.
