Sunday hat-trick sinks Arambagh
Dhaka, February 22: Sunday Chizoba, the Nigerian forward of Muktijoddha scored the first hat-trick in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League in a 4-1 victory against Arambagh at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Elita Kingsley put Arambagh ahead in the 14th minute as the Nigerian grabbed a back pass of Brazilian defender Rafael and placed the ball between hesitating Muktijoddha defender Paul Emmanuel Dammi and goalie Mostak (1-0).
But Muktijoddha scored the equalizer in the 17th minute through defender Ariful who headed a free kick of Brazilian midfielder Lima past Arambagh goalie Shawon from the top of the six yard box (1-1).
Sunday scored his first off a penalty in the 32nd minute after he was fouled by his compatriot Amadi Moses in the box and he scored form the resulting penalty (2-1).
Sunday netted his second in the 67th minute as his shot from the middle of the box on a Mamunul Islam through pass beat Shawon in the near post (3-1).
The Nigerian completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute as he beat Shawon with a delicate touch after a low cross of Shakil, curved from the left flank found him unmarked in the middle of the box (4-1).
With the win Muktijoddha remained at the top with 12 points from four matches while Arambagh remained in their previous three points from four matches.
