Russell thrash MSC 3-0
Dhaka, February 23. Sheikh Russell beat Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd by 3-0 goals in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Both the team played with ten men as Russell midfielder Manik and Mohammedan’s Nigerian defender Dominic Johnson saw red cards.
The first half was rather dull with both the teams exchanging counter attacks but lacked the finishing touch. No notable attacks were made as more often the attackers were outnumbered by the defenders.
Sheikh Russell was reduced to ten men when midfielder Mezbabul Huq Manik was sent off due to the second yellow card in the 43rd minute for a foul on Sohel Rana.
However Sheikh Russell hardly showed any affect of the deficit as Nigerian marksman Alamu Bukola Olalekan taking a cross of Anwar ran through the left flank and avoided a fierce challenge of Mobarak before placing the ball into the open net in the 57th minute (1-0).
The Nigerian scored the second to seal the fate in the 80th minute when he was fouled by both Morslain Parvez and Dominic Johnson in the middle of the box and referee was quick to point a penalty. Bukola converted the penalty (2-0) .
Dominic E Johnson, the Nigerian defender saw the red card in the 87th minute for his double footed tackle on Uttam Kumar Banik.
Moro Mohammed scored the third in the injury time after Bukola cut the ball back from the left side and the onrushing Ghanaian placed the ball in the middle of the net (3-0).
Sheikh Russell climbed to the second spot with 8 points from four matches while Mohammedan has four from three matches.
